listen. im a muslim man. i think hitting a woman is wrong period. specially ur wife. so ur showing ur daughter that its ok if a man hits you. stop the bullshit. Arabic is such a rich language. with that been said. one word has different meanings. Extremist muslims use beat as hitting. when really its suppose to mean leave or go away. if a man hit my daughter trust me he would not live to hit another woman. I don't think light beating makes it any better. so i think its a word lost in translation

Personally, I believe if you need to beat your wife to make her act in the way you want... she shouldn't be your wife.. Lets not forget over there, the women dont have a choice in who they marry. because the men know if they did, they would all marry people from other contries, who actually look good and treat them nice. (I know i ruined a good argument by taking a childish stab at the way they look and act, but I couldn't help it)

@gedibanez I agree, though we also send people to gaol or jail for not acting the way we want them to... INSTEAD we should different places where all people can live how they want. put wife beaters with wife beaters, put women who dont want to be beaten with other people who think the same way... and if you move somewhere where they beat their wives, expect to be beaten, though if you move somewhere where they don't beat their wives, and you beat yours expect to go to gaol or jail. makes sense?

This reminds me of the time when white people had blacks as slaves, in this case it is the men who are keeping women as 'slaves' they must obey, they get beat if they don't, they are not as important as the man, therefore anything he says goes,etc. now just like the slavery of blacks, it will also change with the slavery of women upon the quran..It will change. You see women becoming more stronger everday there, and that is how it starts with just one person, as it did before with black slaves.
