My money's on coyote.
But it could be a coyote with some dog genes, considering where it was.

We agree! :) That's why Mr. Ayer says he spent many interviews trying to "right the ship," as the media misused his light-hearted reference to the creature as a chupacabra. He doesn't even believe in the chupacabra.

interesting, but the chupa had a ver definitive description, I think calling the "dogs" a "chupa" is well misleading,
from the account in PR we know what the chupa was/is, the dogs are cools Thanks for this
