This is actually the Sharks vs the Jets, if the rumble ended in a huge flippin' orgy...
-
I can't help but think, "Who gave these dancers the choreography from the Sharks vs. Jets rumble in West Side Story?"
-
it's crazy how people back then in 1913 started a riot because of this. But this is actually very dope! :D
-
I thought this was about a girl dancing herself to death.
This is just some crazy zombie orgy.
-
@maximumbacon i just feel bad for these dancers who weren't good enough to get a decent dancing job and got stuck humiliating themselves
-
@CarlitosDessay yes i know this. this choreography here seems sexual in nature and doesn't depict a sacrifice to me. some people enjoy the new renditions of the rite, but i prefer ninjinsky.
-
@TheLVB1827 That's actually because in the original piece from Stravinsky this part is called "the Sacrifice".
-
Pagan sacrifice. According to the story the girl was suppose to dance herself to death.

Can anyone explain to me what was actually meant to happen in this scene?
Looks like a typical day at work to me.

@worldofprettycraft no. this is not the 1913 choreography that freaked everyone out. that was done by Nijisky (sp). This is done by Maurice Bejart, recently. the original choreography is on youtube though. It was reconstructed and done in 1987. type in "rite of Spring Ballet original".
