As a guitar player you've got to be careful with your hands. You won't see a injury coming. There's no indicator, you just feel it when its to late.
[Thats what happened to me]
The stretches that I show will help you prevent getting stressed muscles, tendonitis [inflammation of the tendons], carpal tunnel syndrome, and increase stamina.
I never cared about stretching and kept on playing after I was well aware of the tendonitis, eventually causing fluids to get in my wrist joint and swellings.
So be careful and stretch, even though this vid is showed in a 'fun' way, you should take it serious!

  • Based on my experience in Weight Lifting, although not the same as Guitar Playing, the 1rst rule for the wrists; never bend them back to even a comfortable-maximum degree, let alone bending them back even further, as you recomend in your video.

So I am curious as to how you came about this info, please ?

Maybe, you should temporarily take-down the vid. You wouldn't want to injure someone ?

Untill you site your source, I strongly suggest that everybody -N O T- do what's in this video !

  • @SnakeEyesAndSevens Hi there SnakeE. To be clear: I agree as far as it goes for guitarplaying/ weightlifting etc. You wouldn't do YOGA with a 100KG weight on your back right?

I think you haven't understood/ watched the video, it's about stretches. You can't stretch a muscle without extending it. (You can partly stretch by doing deep tissue massages though, and it's a thing I'll get to later.)

The vid is showing stretches and doesn't educate on what a stretch is, and that also isn't my task. =)

    That made me so happy

  • @SnakeEyesAndSevens Hi there, thx for the comment! You are a bit quick on your conclusions though. You've got the wrong idea. It isn't weightlifting vs. guitar playing. I'm showing stretches. It's a different thing. Take a few seconds and type 'forearm muscle stretches' in google. Bye

  • Guitar virtuoso, John Petrucci, begins his instructional video "Rock Discipline" with several massage and stretching techniques. He warns of careers ended early due to tendonitis. All of the stretches demonstrated in this video are not only safe, but used by professional guitarists, and is basic kinesiology 101. The more loose the myofibrils, the less spasms and treppe will occur- that burning sensation you get from playing extremely fast.

Would you like some references and or sources?

  • @TheFaggies Same here
