Tom had been announcing racing events almost as long as I have lived and will be missed. "Absent from the body home with the Lord".

My first 500 in 1997, I attended my first qualifications. Later I got to work on a pit crew for several teams. For years, his voice helped create the magic in the air. I hope nobody ever forgets the memorable cadence of his voice, and how he helped create the legendary aura of the Speedway.

I went to IMS for the 1st time with my dad in 1969 and went almost every year for the next 30yrs. for 1st weekend of qualifications and Tom was a big part of it.
RIP Mr. Carnegie.

His voice echoes in our memories of The Speedway.
A pleasant, familiar sound of May.

I first heard Tom in 1988 at the Indy time trials, an amazing voice which I will never forget. There should be a place for Tom Carnegie on the Borg-Warner Trophy.
