For his solo portion at the finale concert of the 10th annual Sutter Creek Ragtime Festival, pianist Carl Sonny Leyland decided to play something entirely new.

You can't get newer than making something up as you go along! He just sat down and started playing, to see what came out. This is the result.

This is completely an improvisation.

See Carl's web site -- http://www.carlsonnyleyland.com -- for information about his recordings and future performances.

...and who has a good title for this boogie?

  • I always enjoy CSL but this isn't one of his best videos.

  • For those impressed by "making up on the spot" ability, recommend you having a look at Eeco Rijken Rapp

  • "...and who has a good title for this boogie?"

I know maybe it's late, but how bout "Broken nose boogie"?

    just popped into my head.

  • Thank you for a great and unusual piece of boogie woogie.
