Quick note: the sound gets lost and comes back, and a few places, the video gets a bit jittery - Sorry. This race is my first Time Trial (TT) race day with NASA (our 3rd race of the day). The race started with a green flag coming out of turn 14 onto the front stretch at Carolina Motorsports Park at Kershaw, SC. About 5 minutes have been cut out of the race to meet the YouTube 10 minute limit. The only things left out were a short pit stop, and some open track running - with some good laps. My fastest lap was 1:54.767. I ran TTC, with a borderline TTC/TTD Mustang (meaning I was at the bottom of the TTC class, and the TTC class is one of the lowest performance classes in the TT series). I am set up for CMC (only running about 230 HP at the rear wheels and Toyo RA-1 tires both per CMC rules) and a nearly 3300 pound car (with me and fuel). On top of that, the tires are from last year and are nearly worn out and a bit hard (I try to use everything up before I throw it out), so I had a bit of a performance disadvantage compared to most of the other cars in my class and the majority of the cars on the track. You couldn't really see that disadvantage too much in this video though, based on the number of cars I passed and that no-one passed me. I have to qualify that disadvantage though, by stating that I raced about 30 to 35 circle track races in a Thunder Roadster prior to taking on road course racing in my Mustang. So, although I had a bit of a disadvantage due to the performance of my car, and that Im new to road course racing, I do have at least some real racing experience. Although I miss my Thunder Roadster, I prefer road course racing. It's cleaner driving and more challenging - and a lot more track time for the time and money invested. If you would like to know more about getting into road course racing, feel free to drop me an email. If I get too many emails I may not be able to reply, but Ill try to get back to anyone who asks.
