This is an OLD Tin Pan Alley song from 1928 by Gus Kahn called "Little Coquette." My arrangement is VERY heavily influenced by James Carroll Booker III, one of the greatest pianists to come out of New Orleans outside of Tony Jackson and Jelly Roll Morton. Not that I can even touch Booker's phenomenal style, technique, or improvisational capability, but he is one of my primary piano influences. Unfortunately, Booker died in 1983 when he was in his early 40s. I've heard many, many pianists from all musical genres, and Booker, when he was focused and sober, outshines them all, in my humble opinion. The piano I'm playing was in Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati, installed there for the "Play Me I'm Yours" event. My oldest son, John, is the little boy sitting next to me in the latter part of the video.
