The director does talk a lot about Mr. Kirshbaum in another scene where he is featured doing a sword kata. This just happens to be a 2 minute segment where they talk about the armor.

one thing that is not mentioned in this interview, which blows me away, is that Len Kirshbaum the one fighting the samurai is actually a Grand Master 9th Degree DAN in Taekwon-Do. To have a guy of this calobration on the acting team was amazing. He actually choreographed the fight scenes. Video should have talked more about Kirshbaum.
