..Also Jump and Run, Starring Hue.

A game I made with some help from drak with character sprites. Audio goes out of sync after a while and the game runs in 60fps unlike this video but WHATEVER.

EDIT: The game is done and the contest is over, netting the three of us a cool 500 bucks Australian. Try it yourself and see if you can beat my high score!

  • All right, I'll start documenting the game mechanics - once I have a little bit done I'll ship 'em off to you to see if they are satisfactory.

  • Well, that doesn't sound impossible. As long as all the other resources are there, that is.

  • I'm sure, I tried. Also, the code relies on extorting a lot of arbitrary MMF functions that have no equivalent in proper programming languages (such as totally baseless "Speed" values). You'd basically have to start from the ground up based on documentation of what the code DOES rather than how it works (I.E. how high Hue can jump and how fast he can run, what patterns the blocks are generated in, the scoring, etc.)

  • Not necessarily, but it would make it pretty difficult at the very least. However, the OPP engine compiles on OS X and Windows, and should compile on Linux, so if you can provide me with adequate documentation on the code, I can work it out and send you a program which you can tell me if there's anything wrong with it.

Are you sure you can't copy/paste the code out?

  • Unfortunately I have all but the last, but if required I can provide detailed documentation on the coding for every aspect of the game.

I was still quite interested in continuing this project - what I have I consider to be unfinished. I don't want to cause you any inconvenience, however.

It being a Windows-only program would keep you from running it, wouldn't it?

  • No, I'm proposing a marriage. Now get your rear to California.

In all seriousness, if you've got graphics/sounds/levels and some sort of source code in a format I can read without needing MMF, then I'll see what I can do.

  • Buckley! Are you proposing...

    An allegiance?!

  • You know, the OPP engine is pretty complete. I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to adapt it to this game.
