The cooks are responsible for my waitress chatting with several other waitresses about what they're going to do with all the tip money they get for making the people they serve order more expensive stuff then demanding a tip then getting pissy when you don't give them it.
Cooks, yeah. Gotcha.

I was a waiter for 3 years. As far as the telling you the specials and what not it's just something all servers are told to do by the manager so their sales can go up. Trust me if we didnt have to we wouldnt recite all of this to a customer, saying it over and over gets old. And more people should realize that as far as how long the food takes and tastes, that is totally up to the cooks and how busy the restaurant is at that time. Just to let people know.

I was in this great restaurant which had the best idea about service. There was a box above each table and when you're ready to order you pull a chord and a green light comes on. Waitress comes over, takes your order, then that's that.
Why hasn't anyone else had this idea? If anything, it means the servers don't have to hang about. It's just efficient.
