Yeh Chaand Sa Roshan Chehra. 1964 film Kashmir Ki Kali. Singer: Mohammed Rafi. Music by O P Nayyar. Stars: Sharmila Tagore Khan, Shammi Kapoor, Nasir Hussain, Pran, Madan Puri. Story-Screenplay by Ranjan Bose. Director: Shakti Samanta. Sharmila Tagore was only 18 years old when she starred this film. Another film with the same name was made in 1946. Sharmila Tagore married Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the Nawab of Pataudi, after converting to Islam, and changed her name to Begum Ayesha Sultana Khan. In December 2005 she was chosen as an UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. She has one son, Saif Ali Khan (born 1970), and two daughters. Saba Ali Khan, and Soha Ali Khan (born 1978). Her son, Saif Ali Khan, is a leading Bollywood film star, and married Kareena Kapoor. The legendary singer Mohammed Rafi (1924-1980) still continues to entertain millions around the world. Surely, he justly and rightly deserves more honours for his selfless contributions to the Bollywood film and entertainment industry that only gave him a handful of awards. There will never be anyone like Mohammed Rafi. His skills were just out of this world. Under-rated, under-paid Mohammed Rafi was honoured with the "best singer of the millennium" by Hero Honda and Stardust magazine in Mumbai on 07 January 2001, over twenty years after Rafi passed away in July 1980. "It was Mohammed Rafi sahib's humility which made him such a great singer. This is evident in his songs which he sang from the heart. He thought of the music, and doing a good job. He did not think of the money or furthering his career. His personality and attitude showed in his voice which was like divine nectar. God created him to sing...," according to Shakil. Rajshri video. • Rafi sahib passed away 30 years ago (30 July 1980), but his legend lives on as his voice still continues to entertain and amaze millions around the world. No one replace humble, modest and pious Rafi sahib who changed Indian film playback and music industry forever. He is a book on how to sing. His playback voice changed the fate of many Indian film actors and made them superstars of their time. I feel honoured to have met him, be his family's neighbour in London-UK. RIP Mohammed Rafi.
