Driver shaft lengths by the top manufacturers in golf vary by as much as 1.5" in length. Therefore to achieve optimum distance in your driver, the longest shafts need to be lighter to help you square up the face. essentially long and light means long hitting. That is assuming you can hit the middle of the club. Clearly as the shaft gets longer this becomes more difficult.
as there is no industry standard in driver length my suggestion is to get fitted by Sandy Smith Golf or your local PGA Pro. This will guaruntee you longer and straighter shots.
