Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell asks that the Senate consider a bill to allow offshore drilling, but Democrats, led by Sen. Ken Salazar (D-CO) object.

Sen. McConnell then asks if the bill could be triggered when gas reaches $4.50 per gallon, then $5 per gallon, then $7.50 per gallon, and finally $10 per gallon. All objected to.

So how high does the gas price have to be for Democrats to agree to more oil drilling?

So to haul my family around should I keep my one big car that gets only 13-15 mpg and is already paid off, or would you force me to buy two cars that get 30 mpg, effectively using the same amount of fuel, but adding two car payments, doubling my insurance, ADDING another car to the road, etc etc. hmmmm, what's the better solution. I'll take mine, thank you. P.S. It's not my fault an eight cylinder engine in a van gets only 13-15 mpg, talk to the big car companies and big oil about that....

5-10 years? are you fucking stupid? i worked on a rig in the south china sea for 2 years and we were pumping crude after 3 months... sure if you want to add the year it took to build and place the rig yeah it takes some time but no 5 fucking years. As with any commodities market speculation would drive the price... i mean if i knew there were 10 gallons of gas on the planet would i sell it for 4 dollars a gallon? Idiot...

Gas reached 4 plus dollars under bush also... It's stupid to have a trigger as it takes anywhere between 5 and 10 years to get a rig up and running... The built rigs for drilling when gas was 50 cents per gallon... The price of gas is basically inventory, collusion and speculation. Not lack or scarcity of oil.
