What is confidential information? One way to determine what is confidential in your company is to consider what might happen if the information ever got into a competitor's hands.
Just think about it... customer lists, sales stats, any financial records and personnel files... that's all sensitive information. But there's much more. Legal documents, cancelled checks, account records, computer printouts and medical records - they're nobody's business but yours. Then there's advertising misprints, tax records, invoices and price lists. Inventory lists, outdated business records, new product proposals, credit card receipts, competitive information. The list really is endless.
