I loved this movie so much, but in a very odd way. Until Gerry, I had no experience with this kind of film: the kind of film that isn't about what exactly happens in the film, but what it all represents. Anyone who dislikes this movie, or finds it boring has no respect for the true beauty of what films can really be.

And if, at the same time, it was just simply telling "look at me, I am what I am, that's all...and it's enough!". Maybe just Light, Lines, Landscape, Movement, Stillness, Sound, Rythm. I love this movie as an "experience". The greatest apparent simplicity, through the greatest of artifices: cinema.

All films "represent" something, that's what film is, visual representation. This film just does it too explicitly. Instead of subtle abstract representation, this film just screams, "Look at me, I am not what I seem!" And I've had enough of that; films that scream at you. And Matt Damon is a mouth breather.

This is a rare and beautiful film. So understated in its approach. Van Sant makes us feel merged with the characters, as if we were taking the journey with them. Superb!

ive seen this movie twice actually ..

this is an ez acting job to be honest ..

ez ..

lots of subtle improvisation ..

but mostly them being themselves in a way ..

damon does have talent .. and im sure affleck has his share ..

but this is not a showpiece for their talents ..
