I "think" the optic pickup (wheel) sees a faster change in direction (rotation), in turn more power (distance) but some accuracy is lost. (unless your Sobe!!) That is your spins would have to be at the exact angle of the shot backward and forward as you would do without spinning the ball..this is great for skipping over water use fwd or rev spin with your driver A1 OR C3 (you only get one water skip)...good luck!.
