Recorded as part of an Interview by Phil Cunningham for BBC Radio Scotland at The Ritz Hotel in Paris in 2008. Gerry on Acoustic Guitar and Vocals, and Phil on Penny Whistle. A very intimate performance of a Gerry Standard, with him introducing the song and giving some background to the lyrics.

  • Thanks Alan, the voice is a wee bit shaky and the strumming a wee bit pedestrian but really this is a great version.

Crikey (re comment below) I remember Ken Manners playing around the pubs in Glasgow.

  • @bigrab Yeah, but it worked perfectly to make the song what it was, and as special as it was in the end Rab. A master at work...............

  • when is the full interview being broadcast Alan?

  • @hodgepig007 Thursday morning 00:30am Dave on BBC Radio Scotland.

  • Proud to be a Gerry Rafferty fan. His songs will live on. One of the best songwriters on the planet. Baker St, Right Down The Line, Night Owl etc....

Should be inducted into the hall of fame without doubt.

  • @regaltip8A He definitely should.

  • Love his laugh at the end. Despite his reserved and somewhat aloof persona there just seems to be something about him that captures the very best of human artistry. One of those enigmatic people you wish you'd known. R.I.P.

  • @AlanRafferty Alan, I think it's a great version... Gerry had an incredible voice and an incredible talent for writing great songs... I started listening to him in high school in the '70's and loved him in Stealers Wheel... Thanks for sharing the music...
