this is an example of autorotation crash testing. They are testing this helicopter for certification and crashworthiness. a helicopter is supposed to be able to sustain a certain amount of force upon impact and still allow the occupants to walk away, fairly unscathed... The MD in this Case proved it's durability and ability to withstand high "G" forces upon the event of a hard landing/crash.
