Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep - Final Boss: Vanitas Round 2 - Ventus - Keyblade Graveyard

This is me fighting the tenth and final boss of the Ventus story line of Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. This boss is Ventus' dark side. Vanitas

My difficulty is Proud Mode. I was level 32 for this fight.

Here's a short boss guide:

I had a lot of trouble with this fight. The first part was easy enough to get down - he'll do a giant fire attack followed by a fireball. Just avoid these. Play very defensively until he turns blue and charges at you. This is a very predictable spot and his defenses are down after his 3rd charge. I like to use a blitz when he does this. Otherwise, when I see him trying to charge or porting behind me I set down a Mine Shield and let him run into it. The mine shield probably did the most damage for me in this fight. I got through this phase many times, but...
After you get Vanitas to 1 hp, he will break the platform below you and you'll be floating in midair. He'll only do 3 attacks at this point: the porting behind you, the blue charge and a shotlock. The point of this phase is to get your command gauge up to full and use your finisher. You can fill it by using Dark Spiral whenever he is using a shotlock or a dark spiral himself, or you can use a shotlock during any of his abilities. On Proud Mode, the command gauge goes down very fast, so I found that using a dark spiral on his shotlock once, then using a shotlock three times was the best way to do it. I'll admit, it was extremely close here.

This is the last fight in Ventus's story. It took me 22 hours to beat.

I understand this was hard. Took me forever. -_-

But anyway, this helped a lot and I got Vanitas defeated. I personally thought the ending was sad because he promised to see Lea again and to see Zack when he was a hero. He never will...ever. As far as we know anyway. Same with 358 Days. I thought it was sad they never got to go to the beach for real. As friends.
