    i used Fedora 17 , gnome 3 was a nightmare , now i use centos 6.3 for my box ,really good experience

    Or, just use good ol' Gnome 2 :). CentOS 6 (RHEL without branding) is still supported for the next 7 years. Granted that CentOS is meant (mainly) for servers, so it isn't as easy to use as, say, Ubuntu or Fedora. I'll be sticking to Gnome 2 until I find something better, 7 years should be more than enough...
