Cane Hill Pauper Lunatic Asylum sadly closed down in 1991 after many years of psychiatry since it opened in 1882. BirminghamIU are proud to announce evidential photographs from this amazing and historic location. Cane Hill was mainly demolished in during 2008.

  • Thankyou so much for this, it's such a shame that they had to destroy it considering it has so much historic value. I just hate having to see the tower every day when walking to and from school. Scary right?

  • Excellent video guys! God I miss going to this place - probably went in about 40 odd times. The most shocking thing for me was the amount of patient files left behind.

    Browning Blake was especially eerie in a way as it was so well preserved right up untill its demise. That said there was something tranquil about it.
