A tribute to a great Christian lady. She sings "His Eye Is On The Sparrow", her signature song, which was a favorite of her grandmother.

  • Ilove this song and the way miss Ethel sings it.This song lifts me up as my sweey wife has been fighting cancer we know God whatches over me(us) How could Ipurchase a CD of Ethel Waters with His eye is on the sparrow on it

  • As far as I know Word never put her songs on CD. If you want a CD I can make one from this two record album that is no longer available.

Give me an address and I will be happy to send you a copy.

    Glad you enjoyed Sparrow.

    Jim

  • Amen!

  • i LOVE this particular recording of Sparrow - it sounds like it's a live recording, and Waters was always at her best live. This is a much better recording than the one on the record "His Eye Is On The Sparrow", which has a rather sterile choir singing background vocals. I love the Waters additions - "and you too, if you'll let him..." If anyone has a Crusade clip of Waters singing Sparrow - or preferably several, every performace was different - please post!

  • Thanks for your comment. I first heard her sing "Sparrow" at our church one evening. I liked it better than this version. This version is at the end of a two record set "A Little Talk With Ethel" and is the best recording I have heard. And then I edited in another "and I know". The time she sang to us at church I think she sang that phrase 3 times. She was a gracious lady with a rough past. It would be great if some kind movie producer would make a good biography of her life.

  • I used to watch this lady sing from the Billy Graham Crusades and feel like I was in Church. Its sad they have mostly been pulled. Somethings should be about ministry and not copyright. Amen Ethel.

  • What a wonderful Lady she was.
