LITERARY JERK

I am a Miami Herald Freelance writer and sent out my query to JUSTIN FERNANDEZ, a literary agent. He read the first 4 or 5 sentences to my book and concluded that I was born with no talent for fiction. Other people's blogs say he used to charge a 1000 dollar retainer. I wouldn't send him my queries if I were you. No good agent is goint to write you a letter saying you weren't born with the fiber necessary to write. There must be an alterior motive. How about a one thousand dollar retainer?

Ok, I am with Dalton's Literary Agency. We would never send any rejection out like that. I don't know what that agents problem is, no agent, no publisher and no other writer is in any position to tell anyone they don't have talent.

I agree with arles carballo. Justin Fernandez has no right to say what he said about Mr. Carballo's work.

Check him out on the Preditors and Editors list. Ther is a mega world of scam artist in the literary world and most people get published due to their connected to what is called the Social Mafia Network. What people dont know even professional writers have their manuscript read by beta readers, professional editors and then they do there revisions accordingly. Event people like Steven King and the lady who writes the potter series. Ghost writers write alot of their work which they take credit.

Before you query, you need to check Preditors and Editors and the Absolute Write blog and forums to make sure the agency is legit.

No agent should ever charge a fee. The agent gets paid when the author gets paid.

Dude, why were you even sending a query to this scam artist? If you had done the proper homework on this, even a simple google search, you would know he was a joke. Stop whining and start querying real agents. And learn to spell "ulterior."
