it is estimated Cortes killed 240,000 native americans during his conquest. food for thought.

@MISTYMOMMY1 It's not that simple.

@stephengiljum I also notice you didn't touch the question of why the old testament can't be quoted to justify murder but can be used to justify the need for a human sacrifice to overcome original sin. Wanna have a go at it? I'd love to hear your reply.

@jimboa26 Could you give me your definition of liberal for curiosity?
Before I give you the answer I want to give you to commit to the points I'm addressing. Are you sure you agree that,
A) Christianity has had nothing to do with the bloodshed in history?
B) Every instance killing done in name of Christianity, nationalism, greed hatred was true cause?
C) Christianity was evoked to excuse it but, was never the cause?
Agree? Would you also agree if I replaced killing with subjugate?

@jimboa26 I understand what your saying. If some one does wrong their emotions are the penalty. Guilt and sympathy don't go away because you realize your god isn't real. These emotions are universal to all cultures because they are biological in origin. A sociopath is defined as a person who's brain is broken from birth or from a accident causing them not feel these emotions I've mentioned.

@nak807 (con'ted) if atheists are right and that our sense of justice and what is right or wrong is nothing more than social brainwashing, then there is no real reason to adhere to any kind of morality if it does not benefit you. for example, if tomorrow society were to break down and all law and order were null and void, an atheist would have no reason or excuse to be moral or have a moral code. Christians, however, would still be expected to moral, no matter what happens.

@nak807 The point that stephen is making is that if man is simply an evolved animal, than morality is a purely human construction, to be followed or disregarded at man's whim. If there is no higher authority that created the universe and the laws governing it and human behavior, then there is no reason to be a moral person if it does not directly benefit you, and if it does not harm you to be immoral. I'm not saying atheists are immoral - what I am saying is that

It's fitting a pro Christianity song uses the story of Cortez to support faith based dedication, seing as though Christianity is responsible for a great deal of blood shed through out it's history.

@nak807 - a year ago, I addressed this by noting that the sermon I delivered to go with this video told the people that our "Hollywood hindsight" only remembers the "conquistador" as the pretty-sounding hero when indeed, they were a murdering band of mercenaries. Yes, so-called Christians have been responsible for a great deal of bloodshed throughout history. How sad that they set back the work of Jesus instead of fulfilling it.
