This one makes me sad... Every Christmas, my it seemed my Dad would get laid off... lean times. But him and Mom always made the best of it. We had each other, and that was enough. I just imagine how hard it was for him not being able to give us what he wished. So, this Christmas, with my Mom being sick and all.... I truly pray we do make it through December....

"the good Lord"? Is he responsible for all the bad stuff that happens in the world too?

You can't keep hide that good voice. It stands out no matter the unfortunate backing music like the previous poster sez.

This backing track they used in this version takes away from this great song, but it's still a gem.

This song brings back memories of my childhood when money was tight. My Dad never lost his job but I remember one time the union nearly went on strike. It got averted at the last moment, but we were worried. I also remember my parents getting payment gas or electric comp at the last moment right before getting shut off.

I feel that Merle and Willie are the last of the truely great country musicians left. All those coming out of Nashville today are other forms of Justin Bieber or Katie Perry.

My son was at grave risk of being born premature. If we made it to December, his lungs would be developed. I listened to this song every day. Thanks to the Lord that he made it to his delivery date in April and now he's 14 and dunking the basketball.

Yea, its that corporate fake consumerist commercialism propaganda that convinces children and parents that they need to spend money they don't have on toys that entertain kids for weeks and cost parents for months.
