I am Russian, and i remember this song from my early childhood in begin of 60s. My father was pilot of Soviet Air Force, so we lived near of airbase. Pilots often listened this song and even singed it... i couldn't understand no one word in Italian, but somehow i was sure that this song is about sky and flight.

I'm also pilot myself now, and i still sing this song. I hear it in noise of turboprop engines, in sizzle of pneumatics, in buzz of electronics, see it in colors of clouds and clear sky.

I am African American and I have enjoyed this song since I was a little girl back in the fifties. Dean Martin sang it on his television show and I was in love. I still listen to it now but thanks to youtube I heard it sung by the man who originally composed it. I do not understand Italian but I looked up the translation. What a beautiful song! It was also featured in an American soap opera called the Bold and the Beautiful when two of the characters went to Italy to be married! Love it!
