An important aspect of building furniture that many new woodworkers overlook, is the importance of finishing BEFORE the project is completely glued together. Thats the primary focus of this part of the series.

A few of the topics covered in this part: * How to deal with color differences between plywood and solid wood trim. * Raising the grain and applying water-based dyes. * Theory and application of wiping varnish. * Creating shelf pin holes for adjustable shelving. * Applying angled trim to the shelves. * Final glueup and clamping strategy.

  • Food containers for anything toxic??? Not in my book - even if they are cheep - children are not!!!

  • I sure hope you dont think i would actually bring those back into the kitchen after I use them in the shop!

  • Sure not! But many DIY people don't have their shops as seperate from living quarters and children might come to the shop.. Using coffee cups, food containers for dies or other hazardes components just is not a thing I would recomend enyone if there is any other option - even more expencive..

  • Well unfortunately, i cant account for people who dont exercise common sense. If i had children, they would not be allowed to access the shop without strict supervision. And frankly id be more concerned about the 20 different ways a kid could sever a digit or worse. People need to make responsible choices based on their personal situation.

  • After spraying with the water you said "a light sanding". What grit?

  • I use whatever grit I used last on that piece. For me that's 180.

  • Esse aí sabe muito!

  • @HOOKEDONWOOD dont let children get hold of them

  • @HOOKEDONWOOD psst... you must live out of a cool whip bowl.. and have no idea how to be a parent...

  • Marc amazing job as always don't listen to people like HOOKEDONWOOD some people just haven't got common sense its a workshop not a play pen thanks for another great video

  • You need to get out more!

If you want criticise the guy say something intelligent. I don't get these sort of comments. I think you and people like you just like to be heard. He gave you a cheap tip to help you out. If you don't have the sense to dispose of your varnish bowls properly then maybe routers, table saws, etc etc etc are too dangerous for you too!!!

I think your hooked on something else other than wood Pal!

  • I wish I could do this kind of thing! It looks so fun! I would build all my own furniture, instead of purchasing!

    Great Video!
