Ty I just had this dish at a Vietnamese restaurant with crusty hot French bread and it we soooo good! Now I'm gonna make it even though I'm gonna omit the hot peppers and annato seed. And I also have to find a strainer for the star anise. Bt it should be worth it if it comes out anything Ike the restaurant. Thx for the video

thank you for the upload. I like your detailed instructions.

This is really getting annoying! Just because the french colonized Vietnam and introduced vietnamese people to just a loaf bread called the baguette. Everybody think that all vietnamese food are influenced by the french. There's not even one cuisine that came from the french except for the stupid bread.

Your videos are awesome!!! It's very informative, organized, and systematic. I love my stew with beef flank (bo nam) and beef tendons. I can't wait for more videos.

is there anyway to reduce the cooking time? It often takes me up to 5 hours to finish cooking this dish.
Anyway, great instruction!

you need to buy annato seeds (also found in some markets as achiote seed) to give it the color. As for flavor it imparts a peppery flowery flavor. If you don't have it, I would omit this step.
