@OldTimeHockeyLucic That's normal, the only reason you see guys do it during games is because they probably just grabbed a new stick off the bench with fresh tape. Some guys go through a few sticks each game.

Be careful using this move, as if you lift it up too high you'll be called for high sticking.

the crosby??? noooooooooooooooo!!! the mike legg.....this move requires no practice, u can do it or u cant end of story
-
@OldTimeHockeyLucic you should be able to do it at any time but just make sure theres no ice or snow built up on the blade. The tape being wet would not effect it.
-
the reason why most refer to it as the "Michigan Move" or the "Mike Legg Move" is because that game of Michigan vs. Boston College was broadcasted on live TV. Bill Armstrong was the first to do in a game for the Orlando Solar Bears. Two weeks later Mike Legg did it. Sidney crosby was the last person to do it.

just a note not possible with ice on your blade

Man I used to try this all the time and could never get it, after watching your video I got it first try. LOVE these videos
-
@OldTimeHockeyLucic wax your stick
-
I can always do this when I first get on the ice, but once my blade gets wet I can't at all. Can anyone do this at any time or is it just me?

Love your vids guys. Keep it up!! You're 100 percent right. Bill Armstrong played with Mike Legg during their summers off and did show Legg the move. Im pretty sure Armstrong is still the only player to score with this move in a North American Professional League (Orlando Solar Bears - IHL). He scored with it 8 times. How do I know? Army is a bud of mine!
im left handed, does it change where the puck should be at?

@steven4rmnewyork I play hockey, I know this. In the video I say, it is NOT the Crosby move, but I am just calling that because he was the most popular player to do it. Rob Hisey was definitely NOT the first person to do this, but he had a popular video showing him scoop the puck up between his legs. I am showing the move, how Mike Legg did it. If you want to get REALLY technical Bill Armstrong is the one who showed Mike Legg how to do it. Consider yourself educated.
