First, if the item is extremly small and invisible, you are unable to locate it, and with the other client version except Viewer 2 (Thank you Linden Lab) you can not see the profile of the object by the chat, So, you can not must it,,, and that become annoying etc.... just open the window in (View) and select (Mute List) and the tab (Nearby) and click on mute when you can see the object saying something. Anb by Viewer 2, just click on (i) beside the name and (Mute)... easy...and simle.
