Two sequences of rare archive featuring the extraordinary talent of champion piper Gordon Walker at the Argyllshire Gathering, Oban, in 1996.
The two clips are from the award winning filmed history 'When the Pipers Play' featuring Isla St Clair and all the Scottish Regiments.
You will notice Gordon was a pipe corporal at the time of filming. Gordon has won every competition worth winning, including the Gold Medals at both The Northern Meeting and The Argyllshire Gathering. His latest film 'Highland Laddie', was directed by Patrick King, produced by Highland Classics, also features Isla St Clair and the Pipes and Drums of the 6th Bn Royal Regiment of Scotland. For more information about Gordon and how to get his DVDs contact the producers website on pipersplay.com

  • Nobody circular breathes on the bagpipes it would be impossible, that's what the bag is for, some circular breath on the practice chanter.

  • Hi there, Great pio, Well done. Does anyone know the name of the piobaireached for me? I Like it!

  • @Wenbier You could not use circular breathing on the bagpipe, the volume and steady pressure you are required to maintain is unsustainable with circular breathing, hence the bag. If you had read past the first sentence you would see that I am well aware that this is done on the practice chanter.

  • @dorbie You could use circular breathing on just about any wind instrument, including the bagpipe. The point is that it would be useless to do so on a bagpipe, because the bag is already doing that for you. In point of fact, some pipers do learn circular breathing for use on the practice chanter.

  • resto776 - those aren't henderson's, they are Lawries.
