  • Crikey! There's reports that JW won't be regarded as holding the record for youngest round the world sailor for whatever WSSRC technicality.

BS. This must be recognised as a record coz she sailed in the world's hardest conditions, THE ROARING 40's and officially or unofficially, she's the YOUNGEST person to sail around the world.

And the welcoming crowd in Sydney will vote with their keels.

  • @FaddleonLSD

Technically WSSRC no longer recognise records set by <18 years old. However, Jessica has circumnavigated and crossed the equator, battling the high seas. She is a great sailor, and a great role model for younger people.. ONYA JESS, well DONE!

  • when she finishes her circumnavigation, she be able to afford her own private dentist, doctor, etc. so don't be so shallow ended, because jessica's literally in the deep end. She's got more guts than any of us and deserves all the accolades, she'll get, when she arrives back home.

  • Good Luck Jessica!!! Be safe Mate and have faith!.. your going to be just fine... and always remember that your NEVER alone out there... were all right there beside you until you make it home safely!! If you ever read this... send me a message and let me know how you are!!!

  • Jessica is truely an inspiration, not only for women, but everyone, young and old. She has journeyed around the world, alone, facing very difficult obsticles, stayed on track, kept her wits, senses and perservered. She arrived home yesterday, safely. She a remarkible young lady, courageous beyond her peers. I hope millions see her as an example in their own life journey. Love from Allen Park, Michigan USA

  • Welcome back jessica watson!!

  • Very easy for me to say and may not be feasible & i don't blame her for wanting to head straight into Sydney, but......

....it would be funny if she decides to sail north past Sydney and way up above the equator high into the Pacific, then back down to Sydney again. Nothing says she can't do that. Coz it'd be an 'in your face' way of covering all 'technical requirements'. Anyhow no matter what it is a heck of an achievement of endurance.

  • @dreamstreamstv ....and her Wiki page is telling. Near the end there is a list of people with excellent achievements, but very few who have sailed solo, non-stop and unassisted. Even after all the storms, the frontal systems have suddenly played devil's agent as she was crossing the Aussie bight. Don't care what anyone says, she's achieved something as rare as diamonds and it was a heck of a risk. Not to mention the discomfort. So yes, she did very well.

  • failed bit short made at least made it back home in 1 piece.

  • Jessica, if you see this, I have been hearing you have another boat shadowing you.

  • What a decent role model for our youth!

Go Jessica, we're all proud of you.

  • You go girl. You're doing more in your 16 years than most people do in their entire life time.

9Endon9 and timelleb.........you people are pathetic morons. This young lady will be famous and you two will still be living under a rock.
