The picture is of the Black Lion on Glanmor Terrace, reputedly Dylan Thomas' favourite pub, in New Quay, Ceredigion, West Wales which was the inspiration for LLareggub Hill, the village in Under Milk Wood. (LLareggub is Bugger-all spelled backwards)

  • Beautifully read indeed.

  • An entrancing example of word mastery, expressed in silken tones.

  • Dylan had an intuitive vision of the limitations of human suffering. Tho he was immersed in it he lived his drunken life long enough to become one of the greatest word slingers the human world has ever known. But turtles don't get much out of it!

  • savagely beautiful

    many thanks

  • Thank you, really thank you.

Must have been living under a rock, but didn't know this one.

It has a savage beauty that makes me weep and weep.

    And you read it beautifully.

A gift in the night, for dreamy insomniacs.

    Thank you.

  • we're doing this in my theatre class. we have to memorize ONE STANZA AT A TIME IN ONE NIGHT. its beautiful writing

  • Bravo. Bravo.

  • Simply beautiful... You have a haunting voice, perfect for the gloom in Dylan's poetry.

  • I did this in Year One at University and I never really understood it. I had difficulty hearing the song in the text and understanding the message, I was frightened of the rest of the text for that reason and to be honest it put me off it. Now I've heard that reading though, I can honestly say, it has breathed a new life into my understanding of the text and I might go back and revisit it.

    Fantastic. Yet again. Thanks.

  • Well read per usual. I think this has become one of my favorite pieces of text.
