"Bird Prayer" - our cockatiel Tilly "praying" before the photo of St. Seraphim of Sarov and the Kursk Root Icon of the Theotokos. Learn from the bird how to be persistent in prayer! :-)

  • My niece has an African Grey called 'Poley' - the nearest he gets to prayer is when he wants a biscuit - he says 'wansome' until he gets his rightful share!

  • @muisire LOL... Ours also says "pretty boy" and "cheevo?" which is Russian for "what?". Can't imagine who he got THAT from! :-))

  • Nor can I - if nobody speaks Russian in the house.

Poley got my niece's man Derek into trouble for a while by wolf whistling - nobody admits to knowing how he learned to do it - when young ladies were walking past their house.

I do not know how Samantha and Derek put a stop to that but stop it they had to and stop it they did!

Of course the persistence in prayer of your cockatiel holds a wider lesson for all of us

because as they say, it is the creaking hinge that gets the oil...

  • There are many stories form the lives of the Saints:

Elder Porphyrios had a parrot and he taught him to pray: Theotokos, Virgin....

evertime a person came to Elder Porphyrios the parrot started: Theotokos, Virgin; Rejoice.....

He also said: Glory to the Father and to the son

  • So precious.... She seems very gently aware of something as she sits so close. Only thing is that I doubt that is a photo of St. Seraphim of Sarov, since he was around in the 1700s before photography.... perhaps you mean a photo of an icon? Anyway - I pray to him about the frequent needs of our little doggie who closes her eyes when we pray for her every night.... Yes, "let every breath praise the Lord", as another viewer wrote!

  • Let every breath praise the Lord! I have the same bird. Her name is Marfa :o)

  • awesome, to God is the Glory
