  • Hey, I got one of these, but the speed control is a slider, does not have (and never appears to have had) the brass tag

    above the stylus and the tag ubder HMV logo has Model Tasman. The stylus itself has made in England on it. I have a few 78's but these are LP size so don't think suitable and the turntable makes heaps more noise.

  • Nice machine, and it sounds great too.

    Palings & Heindorffs were the main HMV dealers up here in Brisvegas. I think your style of Palings tag was used from about 1921-24, and I think the only visual difference between the Tasman & no.2 was the speed control.

    Is it a single or double spring motor?
