This is a description of my 72 hour Load Bearing Equipment (LBE). I use this set up from day hikes, overnights, to 72 hours, depending on the configuration. I also use this LBE system for Civil Air Patrol ground team missions. I rarely use a backpack, because I find this LBE set up easier and more versatile. It weighs around 12lbs currently and when I attach my wool blanket the weigh is around 18lbs.

The current set up consists of: Military LC2 H Harness with padded web belt, butt pack, 2-1qt canteens, 1 with canteen cup and stove, 2-200 round SAW ammo pouches, and 1-M16 ammo pouch.

  • That survival knife and saw knife all in cap specs?

  • @djlolypop

Yes it is, however you must have it approved by your Ground Team Leader for carry.

  • How much do u think this all cost u I'm looking for a setup exactly like your for a Civil Air Patrol SARSEX

  • @djlolypop

This set up probably around $100 or so WITHOUT the gear. Complete with gear you are looking at several hundred dollars. I have alot invested in my gear and I use it for different things, not just CAP. You can get a set up for much cheaper that will do the same thing though.

  • Hey there great vid, I have a similar system......love the lbe........I've looked around and was wondering where you got the ( woodland) casualty blanket? I can't find one.

  • @whatthehellman1

Survival Resources sells them, so does REI.

    Thanks for watching

Thanks for watching. I am glad it helped you.

  • Truly Great video, especially for a newbie like myself preparing my BOB. I purchased the ALICE pack and thought it's GREAT, but an over kill for day trips or a 72hr bag. This is a GREAT alternative to a backpack 72hr BOB . If I needed more gear I can still ad a small backpack. I see my options from ALICE for longer term to my 72hour choices. Once again, great video!!! LG

  • that is a great use of a mag pouch, thank ya Semper Fi

  • p/prev. post- you carry your blanket on bottom of buttpack - do the same to the top of it w/ poncho. also a utility pouch to side of the pack w/grommets, significant increase in cu. in. storage in the pack for more goodies. ( use 81mm mortar rd. transport tubes to stuff them in for watertight integrity & abrasion protection) - also an inflatable pillow is a lifesaver for comfort.
