@Konfuzing Er no, the mujahideen were actually poor fighters compared to Soviet troops, who were at the time among the most advanced, well-trained and equipped armies in the world.
And will of the people? The Taliban themselves are awfully unpopular even with the Afghan population, at least compared to Karzai's government. I heavily doubt many Afghans want to go back to the pre-2001 invasion years, especially the women.

Where were "CIA" when Alexander terrorists, Mongol Terrorists or British Terrorists invaded Afghanistan? Westerners are spoon-fed all the lies that can be made by their terrorist fathers and media. We armed the Muslim nutcases.The Russians were winning until the dopey CIA got in on the act. We should have been in there with them. They were taking it on the chin for the whole world and we did'nt know it.CIA thought they wanted a warm water port, when in fact they were fighting what we are fighting now.How could the so called pro's be so wrong? I wonder how many Russian lads died because of those Stingers. We owe the Russians big time for that one. Thank you Charlie Wilson and the CIA...
