In this video, I propose an epistemological solution to the mind-body problem that reconciles aspects of materialism with dualism. I call my position conceptual dualism.

  • damn nigga you aids or something? btw it obvious you're reading. but you do look like an aids victim though. and i'm not just saying that because you're gay either. it's just how you look.

  • @kamakazishark What about me looks like I have AIDS exactly?

  • Hi XO Question: Arguing that a physicians medical approach is incomplete is invalidated by the fact the medical approach is incomplete. Until the physicists and physicians are completely capable how can you claim to solve the materialist approach unless you solve the incomplete problems? Biological fluid and its retention didn't get any notice for consistent pattern coding. For example ants are of more abstract pattern animation than their neurons deserve credit for.

  • @stubbornVN I'm not sure I follow what you're saying, but if I understand you correctly, I would respond by saying that you don't need perfect, complete knowledge of neurology to know that nerves are the fundamental unit of the brain or to know that the brain is the origin of the mind.

  • It's all one. I think reality is monistic.

  • I'm unconvinced of this idea. Your argument seems to me to be: "I can't think of a chair without thinking of the concept / why the color red makes me feel good in purely material terms, ergo, thinking isn't materialistic-deterministic." But isn't it possible that it's true that thinking is materialistic-deterministic and we just don't know that it's that way?

  • Hi there just sore this video U posit some very interesting ideas about the mind body problem and I am intrigued by the idea of Conceptual Dualism. I would like to ask do U know of any articles or books that discuss Conceptual Dualism in more detail so that I can investigate this concept for myself.

    Anyways great video.

  • Forget whether consciousness/the soul is separate from the brain. That is a different issue from whether the mind is separate from the brain. In regards to the latter, the mind IS separate from the brain because you can read the former (the brain), but not the latter (the mind). Neuroscience says a lot about the neurotransmitters which allow emotions to manifest themselves. But, it does not tell us about the thoughts bringing those emotions. Only the thinker can do that if he/she decides to.

  • This is profound!

  • @kamakazishark LOl, well black men by and large are murderers.

  • @KelferMookie and you say that because you think black men are murderers? you are a racist. p.s. i AM a black man.

  • @kamakazishark Say "nigga" in real life to a black man... Let's see how long you live.

  • The objective data subjective qualia is most interesting and its study is often called the hard problem of consciousness and one of the most intriguing areas of studying the mind.

Conceptual dualism certainly sounds good as a place holder for the time being; ever since neruoscience blew material dualism to peices there has been a vacum which I think we will fill eventually as neruoscience becomes holistic and looks synegetically at the mind but untill then this sounds great.

  • @kamakazishark wow that is a true analysis of self. you are either suicidal by brutal honesty or you are feeling truely apathetic. can you ever get back to the true lie of self confidence, or are you doomed to an unhealthy view that you are not good to anyone. i will be right back after i jump in front of a truck. maybe
