evaporation and mold in the house.
otherwise your going to have a massive electric bill and a constant worry. And the noise. If you just let it go, there is no more anxiety.
You might staple and attach the heavy plastic sheeting to the bottom of the floor joists too and make sure there is adequate ventilation for any humidity.
Good luck with it.

wow, you have it bad.
I would check your rain gutters and check the pitch of the soil toward the house.
If that is ok, then perhaps you have tapped an underground spring. I know someone who had that happen when they added onto their house.
If it were me, I'd either move (or let it go back to the bank, as is common these days) or when the basement is dry, remove everything from downstairs, roll out plastic sheeting, and then unplug the pumps. just let fill up. The plastic will prevent...

Damn should just over ride the big pumps switch and keep it running constantly

Check you neighborhood as to where the rainwater drains and as previously stated the water table rises of course when there is a lot of precipitation. This happens particularly when the basement is built underground instead of having a walkout basement. However, it appears your drainage system is doing what it should be doing and as long as your sump pump is reliable and does its job there should be no problems. I have a pump that has been going great for 8 yrs. Maintain insurance too.

if your water table is going to rise this fast then you shouldn't have a basement in the first place.

if you have a basement do you need a sump?

Thanks for the info, but we've actually solved the problem. Or at least we hope so. We raised the whole house up by 3 feet and added in extra drainage under the basement slab. Hoping this will do it.
The little pumps were 1/2 and 1/3 horsepower, by the way.

That's 15 minutes after midnight.
We haven't gone through a pump yet, everything is too new. When the power goes out? We flooded horribly and since put in a natural gas generator to kick in when the power dies.
