It's a night of vintage country jazz as The Western Swing Authority heats up the stage at the Commercial Tavern in Maryhill, Ontario.
Paying tribute to the classic sounds of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, Asleep at the Wheel and The Time Jumpers, these Canadian studio and touring musicians revel in their love for that special music of the American Southwest that sprang up during the Dirty Thirties.
The Western Swing Authority consists of Shane Guse, fiddle; Dan Howlett, fiddle; Stacey Lee, vocals; Paul Chapman, guitar; Ed "Pee Wee Charles" Ringwald, steel guitar; Matthew Lima, bass; Charlie St. Denis, drums.
Take the vocals down a shade and the violin down a touch. Or, more importantly, the bass is being left in the background. Rhythm, and thus the rhythm section, is the most important part in swing. Give something for your dancers to 'chug' to.
