He doesn't fit easily in any category. And his attacks on the saintly figure of Mother Theresa, and the not-so-saintly Henry Kissinger or Bill Clinton -- even God, have certainly thrust him into the international spotlight.

Indeed, his writings, books and columns over the past 30 years have given the impression that we might know what to expect from Christopher Hitchens next time. But it's fair to say that just when you think you've got him nailed, he will give you an unexpected point of view, and that's just how he would like it to be.
