My Husband Won't Discipline Our Children

My husband can't stand disciplining our kids. He leaves it to me. I think he's opting out of the less pleasant side of parenting. Should I stop setting boundaries with the kids too so they'll like me as much as they like him?

You can have discipline without spanking and spanking without discipline. The two are not synonomous. They both mean different things. Try non-physical disciplinary action if your husband has a problem with spanking. I don't believe in it either.

You are incorrect about 2 facts:

1) Spanking is NOT effective- several studies have this, as well as the link b/w spanking and depression, aggression, lowered IQ, anxiety- Do you want this for your kids? Is this discipline? NO

2) I don't associate myself with the Democratic nor with any political party nor do I like any such labels. However, if "liberal Democrat" to you means "person who is opposed to spanking and cares about the well-being of children"then I will it as a compliment. Thank you

Those studies are bogus. I was spanked as well as other methods of discipline. I have a MENSA IQ, no aggression and am not anxious. Parents not disciplining has made a country a complete self-centered hell-whole of a wreck.

It seems that unfortunately, most dads are shirking their roles. Getting worse with each generation. Men in this country used to have balls. Dont' stop your part though; your kids are gonna love you. Trust me. A mom who corrects and shapes is loved forever.

Mom keep on doing what you're doing. Disciplining your kids may make them angry at you now, but trust me, the respect will come down the road when they become teenagers and young adults. They will know you mean what you say -- and they will love and respect you for it.  If the Dad doesn't get his act together, he will be facing a rather rebellious group of teens because they will know he's a, forgive me but it's the only word that applies, CANDYASS!
