Rare footage of Writz. This single "Night Nurse" was Produced by 10CC's Lol Creme and Kevin Godley and was released by Electric Records in June 29th 1979. This Video was recorded for Irish TV at the RTE Studios in Dublin.
many happy memories travelling the pubs and student unions of the country to watch Fairnie Sage and co - best gig for me was the Famous Names epic circus tour finale at The Venue in Victoria
Great footage, thanks! I saw them three times in the late nineties (Uilenstede student housing in Amstelveen, NL). Great live show, with very nice effects with only limited means such as simply placing red and green lights in the right places.
Their album is still a family favorite after all these years, especially after I finally ripped it.
@adkamperland Yes they did an many occasions, but in the secular scene. I've been to many of their gigs... melkweg, paard van troje.... Many good memories...
I saw Fish Co in 1978 at Kamperland Festival (now Flevofestival). They caused a lot of rumour on this christian music festival. I loved it...!
Followed Writz/Famous names/Techno(s) Twins on a distance (i am not shure they ever performed as a band ever again in Holland?) and like it very much to see this footage.
I saw Writz at least once in late 70s, and they were a brilliant band, lots of fun. Somehow, those buffoons who ran record companies, TV and radio at that time managed to miss the point, like they did with so many. Probably more focused on Queen and their like. Oh dear. Mr Fairnie was indeed a very nice chap, and his passing was a great loss.
I first saw this performed by Fish Co in North London in the summer of 1979. Fish Co transformed into Writz and became surely the best and most differently named group of the 80s. Who remembers Famous Names, Casual Tease, Techno Twins, The Technos ...... have I missed anything?
Fantastic stuff! I am so happy to see a video of such a great live band as I had given up hope of any being in existance.
I saw them several times in 78-79, booked them for my college and they went down a storm! I remember this track blasting through the halls of residence. Should have been huge.
RIP Mr. SteveFairnie - it was an honor to know you. A genuinely lovely bloke.
Thanks Steve Rowles for taking the time to do this.
