  • If bands these days were just a fraction of the talent displayed here we would live in rich musical times indeed.

  • I love Swarb's haircut! Ace! Also the gypsy-style earring. And the nice suit and Carnaby Street shirt.

  • @andyb909

I couldn't believe my eyes... DM & Hill together...!

No Fairport history has ever reported it: the line up history always switch from the Swarb-Pegg-Nicol-Mattacks line up to the Swarb-Pegg-Hill-Farnell line up.

  • thanks so much--I think Babbacombe Lee is a masterpiece and much under-appreciated. Great to see the band in performance at this point.

  • The singers skin looks very nice. Waiting was not easy for, "Jean D' arc". I dont know which was worse. I think all the guards had s ahot of her. But then she burnt to death. Maybe she enjoyed the heat?/

  • See Fairport at Twickenham Live Room - 19th March 2011 at 20.30. Tickets £20.00 on the door - with 100% of all profits going to give musical instruments to local school children.

  • @IridescentEye The good bands are still there, youve just got to look a lot harder to find them!

  • @34hedgehog - yep. The real giveaway (aside from DM's T-shirt and the smooth off-camera change from acoustic to electric guitar without missing a note) is how Swarb is singing harmony with himself towards the end! The lead vocal seems to be live though, which is standard OGWT practice around that time. Rare footage of this line-up - I wasn't even aware that DM and Roger Hill had been in the band at the same time.

  • @rouseg7 I don't wish to get into a game like that. I could pick many musicians from the past (alive or dead) and compare them to poor musicians of today. Conversely, I could name many poor musicians from the past and compare them with the many good musicians of today. I've been listening to and playing music for more years than I care to admit to. I still love the music and musicians I was weaned on BUT I equally love the much of the music over the years and of today. BTW Mr Blunt's an ok guy!

  • @RickInDorset One point.....Richard Thompson.....James Blunt? Point made agument over!
