The fabulous OPHELIA ORCHESTRA led by Morten Gunnar Larsen (piano), performs a beautiful piece of music.
"Souvenir de la Havane, Grand caprice de concert, Op. 39," by the great Louis Moreau Gottschalk.

It was a memorable evening of entertainment hosted by Kansas City Ragtime Revelry at the historic GEM Theater in Kansas City, Missouri in early June 2005.

The Ophelia Orchestra does concert performances all around the world, and has earned respect over the past 30 years as the best "Ragtime" orchestra on this planet. They also perform music from the early jazz age, and the European styles of the Weimer Berlin Cabaret Era.

Every one should own a copy of their recent CD release entitled, "SOUND AND SMOKE."
It is soooo delicious!

I WISH YOU COULD HAVE BEEN THERE!

  • This american composer/performer born in New Orleans, was greatly influenced by hanging out at Congo Square. He liked to put quotes from popular music into his compositions. He was very popular in S. America. He died 1869, 3 weeks after collapsing on stage after playing his own mournful composition "Morte" in Brazil!!

  • Hi Ida!
