Turn On The Water

I was driving the valley heading north on the Five
And thought I would stop for a drink.
A Ma and Pa farm stand I had come to rely
Near the river of the San Joachin

As I pulled of the freeway I thought I was lost
The green fields had all turned to brown
That place that had sold me the fruits and the sauce
Was vacant with no one around

Gone was the green green valley that I knew
Gone was the old fruit stand
A modern day Dust Bowl was all in my view
I was standing in a new wasteland

As I stood there in absolute stunned disbelief
A figure came into my sight
It was old Pa who sold all those almonds to me
I begged him to tell me his plight

Seems the E P A turned off the water on them
Not a drop, not as hard as they wished
I asked why would the government do such a thing?
He said they are saving a fish

Gone are the farms and the families they serve
Gone all the jobs and the life
Who would be starving their people like this?
Its insanity inhumanity

Now I got nothing gainst the fish in the sea
In fact I eat one every Friday night
But when they put their survival ahead of you and me
For freedom is what we must fight


So therell be no harvest, no thanksgiving meal
In this Valley that hope has forgot
If it happens to them, can happen to you
The Valley that hope has forgot

excellent video. don't understand why this issue isn't getting more coverage. this will hurt everyone- nationwide and soon the govt will be try to control all farmers around the country and foo prices will hurt everyone... for a fish!
