  • This is in Red Deer, not Calgary... and the term "half mile of hell" doesn't mean that the track is exactly one half of a mile, but roughly so.

  • The World Professional Chuckwagon Association travels to multiple cities over throughout the summer. These photos were taken at their stop in Red Deer.

  • i had a huge crush on wayne wright! lol god he was cute!

  • @SchmaltzProductions ironically, when this song was written in 1979, the stampede was a nobody amateur show. The professional association, now the WPCA, then affiliated with the rodeo association, was in an ugly labor dispute to try to even come back to the stampede. They ended up losing that fight and the amateur northern association drivers now the CPCA, were invited to compete in their place.

  • @lulu1002365 Half Mile of Hell is used to describe the sport in general. It has nothing to do with track length or location. Yes the song mentions Calgary but that is only because the stampede is where it started in 1923 and it's grown all across western canada and at one point, in the united states

  • people the half a mile of hell is in calgary not red deer it says it right in the song

  • great song by a great man
