The Gold Standard - Hypothesis

The newest track from Hypothesis, The Gold Standard is the lead single off our upcoming LP Clockwork, which is set to be released this summer. The main sample used for the instrumental is from "It Don't Mean a Thing" by the Kevin Mahogany Big Band.

So I rolled up to the corner, heard a car door slam.
Had a tune in my head and the mic in my hand.
Followed bass lines to the edge of the stands
It was Hyp busting out, my very favorite rap band!
They said "Wuddup Z, you know we need an MC,
And you're from the Bull City, WCOG!"
I said "Alright kids," and then I read-up all about 'em
So I wrote a few lyrics and we put em on an album!

We insane, never the same as any band heard,
Hypothesis back in the game, the gold standard!

So it wasn't too long before our picks struck gold,
And in no time at all, our first record had sold!
It was a high def mixture of hip-hop and techno,
Little bit of jazz with a hint of electro.
Eclectic? Yea, we were in need of a style,
Had a clear message, but we weren't versatile.
On Point took it back so we could get a fresh sound
Now Hypothesis is rockin this Durham underground!
