this audio was compressed before uploading which results in a flattened dynamic range. You can tell if you click where it says "Buy" and compare what u hear on Amazon to what you hear here...

the dinamics are the same i' ve in a " Alfredo Casella" revision of this beautiful piece

That's an old recording, indeed. It's proof that Rubinstein improved with age, and why shouldn't he? We all should. I wonder what year the recording is, though?
I agree with all 6 comments. This doesn't sound like Rubinstein and it is expression-less and the dynamics are all wrong.
And as for me, it sounds too fast

GREAT! This piece is marked largo but also alla breve, and therefore it's NOT too slow. It's too fast only if the listener is expecting (and maybe plays it) with 4 beats to the bar. But with 2 in a bar it flows as it should, and the rubato sounds organic. As for the dynamics- there is a cresc. in bar 12- but forte in bar 17. This implies there should be a subito p in bar 13 to enable the approach to the emotional climax. Cortot also chooses alla breve, but his 2nd page is very exaggerated.
